Busy days

Today was very busy. We went to two different museums. The first one was the John Soane museum. John Soane was a very famous architect and collector of books, antiques and artifacts. He would collect these things for his students to have to study. He also had in his house/museum around 30,000 paintings and sketches of his building plans and also famous political paintings from the Rake's progress.there were numerous panels within panels of paintings as you can kind of see in the picture of the guy opening one of them.
Next we went to the British Museum which was huge! It went on forever. The coolest things we saw there was the Rosetta stone, the Elgin marbles, mummies, and the chess set that inspired the chess set in Harry potter.
I can't really organize the photos so...1.Soane book collection 2.chess set 3.British museum 4. Soane antique collection 5.sarcophagus 6. Soanes antiques 7-8. Elgin marble 9. Mummies 10. Painting panels 11.Rosetta stone 12. Elgin marble

Beautiful art and artifacts. How wonderful for you to be seeing these things that you have only read about. I'm a little envious, but now determined to go back some day and see England again. Keep posting!

It is all so amazing. I have also been thinking of you in London and wishing I was there. It is my favorite city after SLC that is. I hope you savour all your time there. The history is the most amazing thing about that place. Thanks for taking time out of your buzy schedule to post. I love the view from your flat window. Amazing. Be safe and happy.

Yes, thank you for the posts. Isn't the history of places amazing. The Rosetta Stone, wow. I remember walking through the British Museum and almost crying because of all the amazing collections.

It looked as if you were in Rome instead of London! How neat to see various cultures there!
